Waking up at the same time every day.
It is my favorite thing I have ever done for myself.
habit /ˈhabɪt/ noun
A settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up. Example: “He has an annoying habit of tapping his fingers on the desk.”
An automatic reaction to a specific situation, acquired through frequent repetition. Example: “Brushing your teeth before bed is a good habit.”
A long, loose garment worn by a member of a religious order or congregation. Example: “The monk wore a simple brown habit.”
The characteristic appearance, form, or manner of growth of an organism. Example: “The plant has a climbing habit, growing up trellises or walls.”
In botany, the general form, appearance, or growth of a plant, including its size, shape, texture, and orientation. Example: “The shrub has a compact, rounded habit.”
Synonyms: custom, practice, routine, pattern, tendency, convention, way, manner.
Etymology: From Old French “habit” (12c.), from Latin “habitus” meaning “condition, appearance, attire,” originally past participle of “habere” meaning “to have, to hold.”
I have officially installed an internal clock.
For the last 17 days, I have woken up at the same planned time every morning: 4:50 AM Monday through Friday, 5:50 AM Saturday, and 6:50 AM Sunday. But most days (I just shut off my alarm, lol), I wake up before my alarm goes off.
This habit will become one of the best gifts I have ever given myself.
I will have to figure out which book I read recently that said, don’t focus on the time you go to bed every night. Instead, wake up at the same time every morning; essentially, everything else will fall into place.
I am guessing it concerns survival, instincts, and the biology behind our bodies as cavemen.
Either way, today, it is 5:53 AM, and I am sitting down to my new morning habit of writing the moment my eyes open. This is a little difficult for this person who wears contacts to sleep, lol.
I have never had this much excitement for the morning.
Since I decided to wake up at this time every morning, I have gone to bed and woken up excited.
The world holds so much for me, and you. And I am now ready to take what is mine. Are you?
With love, Jo.
P.S. I am sitting here at my dad’s house in Arkansas. I live in Texas. For the last three days, I have been spending time with him because he is going to have a minor surgery to remove cancer from the inside of his lip today. Pray, pray, pray, friends. I will shower, say goodbye to my parents, pack, and drive home. Xo. ❤
With love,
Jo
