How to accomplish 10x more than your competitors.
Hi friend. We might not know each other yet, but that is what I want to be to you: your friend. We have all heard the philosophy “Work harder, not smarter,” and then the wise guy says, “Work smarter and harder.” Well, I am here to tell you to work more efficiently. I want to share with you how I am more efficient than my competitors, hoping to inspire you to believe you can do it, too!
You see, you and I aren’t that different. I don’t know you yet, but I would like to thank all my mistakes, trials, and errors for allowing me to provide you with some insight you might not have arrived at yet. So, without wasting your precious time, let’s jump right in.
This list will consist of action items that can serve as mottos for your personal philosophy, workday rules, and mindset.
When I am working on a computer task, I only open the tabs and applications that I need for the task at hand.
When I am working on items that need to be accomplished today or in one sitting, I have a to-do list right next to me with actionable items that I check off as I accomplish the individual tasks. This list is always visible.
I keep my goals visible at all times. If I am questioning if I should take on a new goal or task, or if I am trying to decide if I should say “yes” to something, I reference my goals to see if they align with what I am trying to “big picture” accomplish.
When working, I stay focused by not having my social media notifications turned on. I have set aside a time block to answer work-related social media tasks.
I keep my workspace free of clutter, and I avoid all distractions while I am working.
I have a dual-screen computer interface, so I am not switching between windows more than necessary.
I don’t eat out for lunch because those 1–2 hours are 20 to 30% (give or take) of my work day.
I have a virtual assistant or two to help me with mundane tasks, which are not the best use of my time or the type of work I like to categorize as “copy and paste.”
I batch-record 80 to 90% of my video content because it is one of the most essential components of my business. I record 15–20+ in one sitting, hoping I don’t run out before the next recording session.
I make sure to fit in reading, audiobooks, or a business (or self-growth) podcast to ensure I am always learning something new to keep my business and mind elevated.
I drink 1 oz of water per pound each day to maintain maximum hydration while working out.
I exercise multiple times a week.
I have friends I spend time with regularly, outside of “work.” These relationships are healthy, and no one in my friend circle is toxic.
I sleep with an eye mask, so no light affects my sleep quality. Pitch-black darkness is a non-negotiable requirement for a good night's sleep.
I eat an optimal diet and fast for 16+ hours daily to function on 7–8 hours of sleep. (I do not eat outside of my 8-hour window or when it is dark out.)
I prioritize self-care because I know if I am not at my best, I cannot perform at my best.
I give myself grace when I am struggling, especially in a situation that is new to me.
Those are the 17 ways that empower me to accomplish all I accomplish daily and weekly. Can you think of any good ones I forgot? I wanted my list to be pretty universal, so I left out God and prayer, but I find strength in my faith and meditation, too! Oh, and you must remember journaling and brain dumping (into a notebook). Those are great, too!
